On Sunday 10th February Sylvie and I will be leading the first yoga and meditation event exclusively for veterinary professionals in NZ, and it is coming around quickly!
‘Surgery to Sanctuary’ will be a day of yoga classes, yoga and meditation workshops, delicious food, connecting with like-minded colleagues, and relaxation, all in a stunning natural setting near to Bethells Beach. It’s a chance to take a day out for yourself, improve wellbeing, enjoy what’s on offer, and learn how the ancient practices of yoga and meditation can be beneficial in our modern world of busy. Also, the event is eligible to be counted towards 3 hours of CE, and a certificate of attendance will be provided.
There is no need to worry about not being flexible enough, or that you haven’t practiced yoga before. Saying you are too inflexible for yoga is like saying you are too dirty to take a shower! Beginners are very welcome, and we are there to help guide you, keep you safe, and make you feel comfortable. Everyone else will be too focussed on their own practice to pay much attention to others, so there is no need to feel self-conscious.
As both Sylvie and I are practicing veterinarians as well as qualified yoga teachers, we understand first-hand the physical, mental, and emotional, challenges that often accompany our roles in the veterinary profession. We’re both passionate about how yoga and meditation can help, and our experiences allow us to tailor our sessions to be more veterinary-specific than a normal yoga class.
